Enrollment and re-registration
The enrollment is the official registration of a student at a college. At an enrollment, you have to be there in person. After the enrollment, you will receive a course attendance record, a student identity card and a student's confirmation.
In Germany, you do nor have to enroll once, but have to re-register after every semester. For doing so, you transfer the social contribution (and if necessary the tuition fees) and collect your new student's confirmation and the new semester ticket at the student's secretary's office a few days later.
Please notice the re-registration deadline, it may be in the semester break. Those who re-register too late have to pay a fine! If you do not re-register, your name will be taken off the university's register automatically after a short time – you may lose your residence permit by this.
Enrollment at Ruhr-University
At the Ruhr-University, the enrollments usually take place in September and March, start of the lectures is in October and April. You will get the dates together with your acceptance confirmation.
Automatic re-registration is also possible.
